China Glaze OMG collection

http://www.kissandmakeup.tv/china%20glaze%20omg.jpg
This is the beautiful holographic china glaze collection.  If you don't like holographic polishes then skip this first part.  Let's go back a bit.... there used to be the china glaze kaleidoscope collection, but now it is pretty much impossible to find unless you trade/ swap for it because it has been discontinued.
http://www.head2toebeauty.com/nail_polishes/china_glaze/kaleidoscope/china_glaze_kaleidoscope_warm_and_cool_displays.jpg
Now I know a lot of people several of the china glaze OMG collection on their lemming/ wish list... I wanted to let everyone know that NOW is the time to get them

They are almost obsolete like the china glaze kaleidoscope.  I was putting stuff into my cart at http://www.head2toebeauty.com/, I checked my cart ..then I refreshed the page and suddenly several of the OMG collection polishes in my cart were gone and when I went back to the website page the polishes were no longer listed. This happened all in 5 mins. I then went to http://www.8ty8beauty.com/ ordered some polishes from the OMG collection, I get an email from Tom (the guy in charge) telling me that sorry some of the OMG colors I ordered is no longer available, can I replace them with something. The color is still listed on the site and you can still add it in your cart but it isn't available anymore.

here is how the choices look so far (including 2 color clubs):
  • OMG collection
    • http://www.head2toebeauty.com: has all the colors but LOL, DV8, OMG, wireless holographic top coat ( but some of the colors listed may actually be out of stock but they didn't remove it, can't confirm this)
    • http://www.8ty8beauty.com: has all the colors but LOL, DV8, OMG, QT, IDK  (it lists LOL as avail but it is not longer available)
    • http://transdesign.com/: Only HAS GR8, TMI, TTYL
  • Color Club worth the risque
    • http://www.head2toebeauty.com: No
    • http://www.8ty8beauty.com: yes
    • http://transdesign.com/ : Yes
  • Color Club Revvolution
    • http://www.head2toebeauty.com:No
    • http://www.8ty8beauty.com: No
    • http://transdesign.com/: Yes
I have purchased the colors I want already =)  DV8 was super hard to find but I found it yay!!

I've actually been very busy lately because of job interviews. woot woot! I had one today and 2 next week.
This is what my nails look like at the moment:

China Glaze Innocence (very nice pink, easy to apply) and Sally Hansen White on Hard As Nails Xtreme Wear. Very simple for an interview. My nails are a lot shorter now actually because I have a laboratory interview and well...I can't go in with a french manicure. I feel that by going in with a French manicure they might not take me seriously because lab work in my field of animal biology = rough rough rough.  So now it's short with china glaze innocence to make it look neat.

And lastly....some pictures from April 2010 LouLou magazine (it's a vancouver magazine)
*click on the pictures to make it larger to read..I have no idea why they are random sizes...hmmmm

China Glaze Passion and IDK

Sunday, June 13, 2010 10

ipehishere asked for a swatch of China Glaze's Passion so here it is:

The polish was opaque in one coat.  I did 2 just in case. =)
It dried very fast and was very easy to apply. It's a very smooth and shiney polish, I think it's very sophisticated. I may have to buy more from the romantiques collection

China Glaze also has 2030 which is similar to Passion. I asked Kris pimps about the difference between 2030 and Passion and she said that "Passion is a little more yellow of a gold than 2030", I wanted a gold gold polish so I bought Passion.

Now I have swatches for China Glaze IDK!   2 coats, I used a base coat and no top coat.
It dried super smooth. sigh.  I love your IDK!
The application was ok at best. It's true for all holographic ChG polishes..if you run your brush over the same spot twice the brush will remove some of the polish you originally had on that spot and leave you with bald patches.  The trick is to do it all with 1 sweep of the brush then let it dry and go over it again afterward.
So...I really really desperately need China Glaze LOLand DV8.  does anyone have any extra or unwanted used or unused bottles they want to sell to me?  Or does anyone want to split their bottle of LOL and DV8 and sell that to me?  I know some people split their bottles since they want to keep the color but don't need so much of it. I'm scouring MUA right now and ebay but the prices are jaw dropping. sigh~  Buying it online through one of the etailers will cost me about $9 a bottle...shipping and all =(

And a little something extra for you guys, I bought E.L.F stuff earlier this year and was given a free elle magazine subscription. I don't really read it but I Was browsing through it and I found this review on nail polish removers. I thought you guys might like it so here you go:  Click on the picture to make it bigger so you can read it =)

I'm copying Delaynee on how she replies to comments, she always replies to them at the bottom of her posts:

@Juli: yup it is a purplish.  it's purple bluish...lilac =)

@ipehishere: your wish is my command

@Liz: it is a cute color isn't it?

@Katrina: I can't wait to see all your swatches from your never used yet basket =)

@susies1955: thanks so much for your comment. I can't wait to see your LA Colors "Color Craze" swatches. you have so many to use..and you are so lucky to find them at a dollar tree. the dollar tree at my place did have them..and now they seem to be not stocking it anymore. I'm always kicking myself in the bum for not buying any of them....except a top coat. Can you believe out of all the colors I bought a top coat?

@nihrida: you have some pretty extraordinary polishes yourself =) actually you have an awesome collection of polishes. And the way you take pictures of the polishes is awesome.  the color drops.  I have no idea how you do it but I like it!

@jaljen:You and I seem to have similiar nail polish tastes. sparkly and shiney =) I'm going to have to try out the fairy dust...the removal may be difficult.

@jbrobeck:  You don't have your wishlist up yet =(.  I too want all my organs to be donated. I was thinking between donate body to research or organ donation. I prefer organ donation.  They can even use you eyes/ the cornea.

Hello Hello Gorgeous people!!

I had my first haul today! yay!  I never buy more than 2 polishes at one time but today I have 7 =)
They were actually sent to me from lacquered lizard.  She is super awesome and fantastic!

From Left to Right: Innocence, IDK, Electric Lilac, Wild at Heart, Worth the Risque, Fairy Dust, Passion

I've been feeling a bit blue since I haven't heard from any of the companies that I applied jobs for so I needed something sparkly to cheer me up...  Electric Lilac it was (part of the glitters collection).

Electric Lilac isn't seen around the internet much due to it's sheerness but I don't think its too bad.  It reminds me of the sweet younger sister of China Glaze Atlantis.
It is not full of holograhic glitter like Atlantis, instead, the glitter is more of a pearl shimmer.  This is a good picture that explains what kind of glitter I'm talking about. (I took this image from nihrida's blog.)

I'll show you what Electric Lilac looks like for each coat until opaqueish.  BTW, the pictures can be clicked on to go super big!!!

 one coat

2 coats

 3 coats

4 coats

You can still see the VNL a bit but it's not very noticeable unless you really stare at your nails.
I think this and Atlantis are tied as my favorites right now =)

*** this is off topic but I wanted to mention it.
I've decided to apply as an organ donor. It is a simple process and I think everyone should consider it.  in some cities it is as easy as applying online and sticking a sticker on to your drivers license.  If anything should happen to you...your organs will be donated to someone who is in need of them. Please really consider it, if you don't apply to be an organ donor then the choice is up to your relatives.  I prefer to make my own decisions about my body (even though I love my family very much) and if I have the opportunity to save a life...why not?

Zoya Irene

Monday, June 7, 2010 5

I received Irene from Lacquered Lizard awhile back and never tried it so I decided it was time to put it on.
I didn't think I would like it much but I actually really love the color.  It's a frost/ shimmer olive green.
Application was wonderful.  Opaque in 2 coats, I did 3 just in case.  The only problem I had was the drying time.  It took a little longer to dry than other polishes ( i.e. china glaze, OPI).  But still, the drying time was alright. I decided not to put a top coat on ..so in all these pictures no top coat.

A few days later it was time to konad it. top right design on m63

I used Sally Hansen Xtreme in black out.  Initially I used Zoya Envy but it wasn't dark enough so I switched to the black.  See Envy on my ring finger (the left finger in the picture).
Alas....stamping was incomplete and done quite terribly because I had just received a package in the mail from Lacquer Ware for Tips and Toes.

Muwhahaah, you can see it on my pinky. I never finished stamping since I wanted to play with hidden treasure.  Hopefully in my next post I will have some hidden treasure swatches. (which are all over the internet..but I don't care..I can't believe I was able to get it..let me rejoice a bit =)  )

I'm Back!!

Sunday, June 6, 2010 3

Hello everyone! I'm back from my vacation in San Diego. San Diego was quite nice but I missed home terribly.
So...before I left for San Diego I had trimmed my nails and removed all the nail polish on my nails. I decided to  give my nails a break from nail polish while on vacation.  Well...the first thing I did back was ... my nails. =)

Simple French manicure nail of the day (click on the pics to enlarge)

What I used:

I used fauxnad  plate m32. It is similar to the konad plate m32 but with a few more patterns

Ingredients left to right:
  • Petites Color Fever in Figi
  • L.A. colors art deco nail lacquer in white
  • Avon speed dry top shine
  • Avon smooth beginnings base coat/ ridge filler
  1. I started with a basecoat that also doubles as a ridge filler
  2. freehanded the french tips in Petites Color Fever figi
  3. applied a layer of avon top shine all over my nails
  4. stamped the nail pattern onto my smile line with white ( If I messed up I used a q-tip soaked in acetone to lightly remove the mistake.  The avon top shine protected my french tips from the acetone. When I rubbed the q-tip over my stamping error, the error and some of the top shine was removed but the french tip remained
  5. one more coat of top shine
  6. Finish =) yay!

btw my giveaway is still open so go enter =)

    Cannot Afford Konad Nail Polish

    Wednesday, May 19, 2010 4

Hey everyone! So I'm back for another post. I'm not sure how familiar you are with Konad Stamping, but when I first heard of it I thought it was the most amazing product. Flawless pictures can be stamped onto the nail in a matter of seconds to create wonderful nail art!

Anyway, the first time I heard of this product was last year when I was at PNE. They sold the basic kit for approx $30 or so and I thought that was totally ridiculous. It came with 2 or 3 bottles of Konad Stamping nail polish and they told me that the nail polish that comes with it is especially thick in order to create smudge-less images. I couldn't fork out that kind of money at the time, so I passed and then later purchased individual plates online (along with a scraper and stamper, of course). Since then I have been using my own "normal" nail polish to do the stamping. I do have a bottle of dark blue nail polish from many years ago when my brother bought it to fix this scratch on his badminton racquet (or so he says...) and that one worked the best since it had thickened over the years.

My boyfriend has been telling me about this TV show called "The Shopping Bag" or something and they do reviews on different products. I never watched this show before, but they apparently got canceled not too long ago (?). Either way, their website is still up and I took a look at their nail polish reviews. I wasn't going to repeat their nail polish review, but they had a warning on the web page telling you not to put your nail polish into the refrigerator because that can thicken it and you would not be able to apply it directly to your nails anymore. This was perfect! That's exactly what I want! So I put my nail polish in the fridge a couple days ago, I haven't checked back since then, but I will let you know what happened once I do.

Let me know if you have tried this before. I'm really curious on your thoughts about this. Also, have you ever purposely tried to thicken your nail polish? What did you do/use?

    atlantis + emerald sparkle

    Saturday, May 8, 2010 4

I had china glaze atlantis on for a while then I decided that before it grows out or chips I would layer emerald sparkle on top. so this is the result:

I think it looks like a green special edition china glaze glitter
here's normal atlantis. I apoligize for the ugly pic. the picture doesn't do atlantis justice.

After taking the pictures, I clipped my nails really short.
I am going to San diego for 2 weeks and will be surfing and scuba diving so I thought that having longer nails while doing such physical activity would most likely result in breaking and I really want to avoid that so clipped short it was.

    some nail art + a swatch + a duck

    Wednesday, May 5, 2010 2

    1. Glitter gradient
    * avon mirror shine glisten on the tips
    * cover girl disco dazzle* sally hansen celeb city

everyone needs to get this color now!!!!
    ( I apologize for the cuticles =[ )
besides the fact that it changes color with temperate....the texture/ color is awesome. It dries matte, I added essie matte about you on top it make it even more matte and now it looks like a suede.

    What Would Gaga Do?

    3

    Hello Everyone!

My name is Juli and I'm a small author on this blog alongside with Li Lian. I'm currently in nursing school, and we're not allowed to wear nail polish to the hospital, which is why I don't have as much to contribute.

I'm also a big Canucks fan, but I currently don't any dark blue or green nail polish on me to do as wonderful job as Li Lian did to cheer them on. In addition to Canucks, I'm also a big Lady Gaga fan! I bought this silver nail polish some time ago because I thought I could use it for stamping. Unfortunately, it seems to be too thin to stamp. The first time I applied silver nail polish on my nail, it just looked too strange (like I was a bionic woman or something). Today, after my last exam this morning, I decided to be adventurous. Put them on and leave them on!

As I was applying it, it just kept on reminding me of Lady Gaga. So I decided to name this nail art "do" as "What Would Gaga Do?" And so what do you think Gaga would do? Stars? Red stars? I THINK SO!!!

    hellohello!!!

    Sunday, May 2, 2010 2

i've got a new camera so i'm hoping to get some really nice nail photos soon! yay

anyways since my nails are naked right now I thought I would post a few pictures that I took from a nail book. I just thought it was neat to drill a hole in your nail and screw in a diamond or a nail shield into it. it's interesting. I don't think you could not do this on natural nails, it would definitely weaken your nails.
    1. drilling2. screw in diamond3. or screw in nail shield

    rather neat eh?

oh btw i'll be having a giveaway and everyone who is a follower gets triple entries!! yay!!

question first make up second nails third

    Monday, April 26, 2010 6

    1. I'm ordering from head2toe beauty but i'm not sure what kind of shipping I should choose. I'll be in La jolla California for a week so I'm going to send my package there. there is a choice for USPS priority shipping, it only costs me about $7.00. head2toe beauty doesn't say how long it takes but when I googled USPS the website said that it takes 2-3 days to arrive at destination. UPS 3 days shipping costs $14. that's like double the price of usps but about the same shipping/ arrival time. What is the difference? Is USPS not reliable or takes more than 3 days?

    2. Anyway make up look:
I wanted to enter a make up look to Glamorous Geek Chic's inspiration contest but I didn't have a good explanation for what inspired my look so I entered a nail design instead. But i'll post it here to show you guys who I am. well part of my face anyways.
here's the picture you worked with

here's what I came up with from looking at the picture for inspiration

    3. Nails. This is the nail design I entered in the contest. everyone knows I hate glitter due to the removal ...but it's so pretty...so I used fake nails, glitterfied them, taped them on my nails, took pictures, removed them. hehehe. btw you can click on the picture to make the image bigger. I don't know why it looks so blurry on my blog. Funny thing is I didn't know doing a glitter gradient was so much work thought..I was exhausted after doing these nails. Anyway so go to Glamorous Geek Chic's website and check out the designs. If you are one of GGC's followers go Vote for the design you relate to the most.
