GO Canucks GO!!!

Sunday, May 15, 2011 Category : , , , , , , , 13

I'm back from my mini hiatus and what better way to announce my return than to do a post featuring my number one hockey team:  THE VANCOUVER CANUCKS!!

The Vancouver Canucks have made it to the Western Conference Final...being from Vancouver...this is HUGE!!!!

Lately I have been rocking Canucks inspired nails.
Last year I was sporting Fin, the Canucks orca whale mascot on my thumb:

This year I'm going for a more subtle look (I'm working as a research technician in a private pharmaceutical company so I gotta keep it classy ^_^ ).......I'm going for V for Vancouver, green and blue for the Canucks

Colors used: OPI Jade is the new black, N.Y.C Skintight Denim

I have a tutorial for you guys so that you can all rock nails similar to mine:
1. Tape! I used scotch tape and cut the tape so that I would have a clean corner.  This corner decides how wide your V will be.

2.  You need to put the tape on your hand, arm, shirt etc to make it less sticky. If you don't do this, the tape will be way too sticky and can ruin your design.

3. Put the tape on your nail

 4. Paint the section not covered by the tape. Don't worry about how you paint it because the tape will help guide the V shape design.  I just follow along the edges of the tape.

 5. Remove the tape and voila!

6.  For another color,  follow steps 1-5 again

7. Take off the tape, voila! You can make the V thicker if you want, it depends on where you put the tape.

Polishes used: OPI We'll always have paris suede, Orly Iron butterfly, China Glaze millenium

Wedding inspired nails

Sunday, April 10, 2011 Category : , , , , 12

I bought China Glaze White Cap the other day from ebay. I applied it on my nails and I loved loved loved it. I really like the gold micro glimmer/ shimmer, I think that it is a very classy color.

This is 3 coats.

I wanted to spice it up so I decided to try my hand at doing wedding inspired nails since I can totally imagine someone wearing White Cap to a wedding.

So I used the following:

And BAM!  we have this:

So what do you think?

*I used an arcylic mold to make the 3D flower on my ring finger.
*Seche Vite is the best top coat EVER for making sure 3D things stay on your nails. When I put on the silver balls/ rhinestones on my nails fall off the next day or they just don't stick to my nails at all, but with the Seche Vite top coat, the silver balls don't even budge.

The larger rhinestone disc was provided to me by bornprettystore.com for review.  The smaller disc of rhinestones I bought off ebay.  I just wanted to let you know that I was pleasantly surprised with the bornprettystore clear rhinestones having a rainbow AB tint to them. The rhinestones I bought off ebay are just clear, the bornpretty ones have a rainbow sheen to them (you can see the rainbow sheen to them better on my nail pictures).

Oh yes, I just wanted to let you guys know that I have a 10% off coupon code for bornprettystore.com, it is: SWNAIL
Disclaimer - The acrylic mold, half pearls, large rhinestone disc was sent to me for review by bornprettystore.com with no payment. My opinion is an honest one.  The silver and gold balls, the small rhinestone disc, and the konad image plate was purchased by myself.

I just finished adding up all the results so I've decided to add the winner to this blog post......The winner of the $25 wowsocool.com gift card is...

VANCOUVER 2010 OLYMPICS!!!!

here are my Mukmuks...the Vancouver island marmot.

The Vancouver Island marmot is an extremely rare and endangered species unique to the mountains of Vancouver Island. Learn about Vancouver Island marmots and other endangered species at www.marmots.org.

soooooooo I can't take it anymore

I wanted to save this for tomorrow so I could post something everyday...I'm trying to really get into this whole blogging thing but I need to show you guys this....

This was inspired by the 2010 Vancouver olympics and http://ilovenailpolish.blogspot.com/
I don't live in Vancouver but quite close so I am getting engulfed in the olympic celebration.

It's mukmuk. I am quite proud of it. It's my first time using brushes. the color isn't an ideal match but I only own about 15 polishes right now so I tried my best.

Who is he?
He is the sidekick to the vancouver 2010 olympic mascots.

I grabbed this description from here:

http://www.vancouver2010.com/mascot/en/profile_mm.php

Mukmuk is a small and friendly Vancouver Island marmot who always supports and cheers loudly for his friends during games and races.

When he is not hibernating or sunbathing on rocks and logs, he enjoys getting out to meet other types of marmots and animals. In fact, this is how he became friends with the Vancouver 2010 Olympic and Paralympic mascots.
